The MTN Ride Crater Cruise is one of South Africa's most prestigious mountain bike festivals. Every second weekend of October, mtbikers from across the continent flock to Parys in the Free State, South Africa to compete for the Mountainbike Marathon title <King and Queen of the Crater>, OR to come and enjoy the beauty of the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site along the Vaal River and indulge in the friendliness and hospitality of our rural community. The Petit Paris venue is the home of the event and is only 100km from Johannesburg.

The Ride Elite Kêtáthelon (starts at 16:00)

At 4.00pm on Saturday, once the dust has settled, the day’s activities are rounded out with the Elite Kêtathelon. Once again, there is significant prize money up for grabs and this event is a whole lot more serious (and harder) than the one held 24 hours earlier. Participants are required to ride 6 laps (9km in total) and they stand further away (8m) from the targets. This event inevitably gets contested between those who have the speed and those who have the skill, but is won by the person who combines them best. This event is by invitation only - only space for 32 riders!
